Sheba Lawhorne Lane is the GRASP advisor at Buffalo Gap High School.
Sheba is a graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in school administration. She recently retired from full time teaching after having served six years as the director of high school bands in Nelson County, followed by twenty-five years as the director of middle school bands in the Staunton City Schools, before becoming the School Improvement Leader of Bessie Weller Elementary School. In addition to her experience as a public school teacher, Sheba has been the Color Guard instructor at Robert E. Lee High School, and a Minister of Music at Linden Heights Baptist Church then at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton. Active as a conductor of regional honor bands as well as an adjudicator of high school bands and choirs across the state, Sheba also enjoys singing, playing the piano, and learning new things through TED talks and online college courses. A native of Buena Vista, Virginia, Sheba and her husband, Doug, are the parents of Maria (a graduate of JMU), and Connor (a student at BRCC). They share their home with one very lovable cat, Cheddar.
