Recently retired, Marianne had a long career with Chesterfield County Public Schools. She served as a middle school counselor for 7 years before transitioning to the high school level. At Clover Hill and Meadowbrook High Schools, one of her duties was helping students prepare for life after high school, including with the college application process. Marianne served as the Instructional Specialist for Alternative Education, working with students to complete an alternative pathway towards earning their high school diploma. She advocated for her students as they applied to community and 4-year colleges. During her tenure there, she became familiar with GRASP and referred students to the advisor assigned to her school, with great success. Her last position with Chesterfield was as principal of the Juvenile Detention Center, where she doubled as a school counselor, again aiding students in mapping out their post-secondary plans. She is excited to come on board with GRASP, as she believes strongly that every student who desires to further their education or training after high school should have the financial opportunity to do so.
