Sarah Henry is the GRASP Advisor for Essex - essex@grasp4va.org


Sarah Henry serves Essex High School as a GRASP Advisor for the 23-24 school year. As a former high school counselor in the Northern Neck, she is  excited to continue to work with GRASP and serve students in the Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the Ohio State University and is completing her dissertation this year about the experiences of rural school counselors collaborating with communities. She anticipates graduating with her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision in summer 2024. She is a graduate of William and Mary and the University of Virginia with B.A. in Psychology & Studio Art and M.Ed in Counselor Education, respectively.

Sarah also serves as a lecturer at the University of Virginia, where she teaches practicum and PK-12 Career Interventions to future school counselors. Sarah also helps supervise future school counselors at the Ohio State University. She is passionate about Virginia public education, especially in rural communities, and helping train future school counselors to serve students' diverse needs. Outside of work, she loves to cook, listen to music, spend time with her family and dog, and be outside.
