GRASP Community College Scholarships

Earn your associate degree or career certification at a Virginia Community College

GRASP will award scholarships to selected applicants for $1,000 for their first year of community college.  Scholarships may be renewed for a second year of the recipients' program. Eligible scholarship recipients will enroll at a Virginia Community College either to complete a career certificate or with the intent to transfer to a Virginia four-year public or private institution, many of which have Guaranteed Admissions Agreements with Virginia’s community colleges.

Application Opens spring 2025

Students eligible to apply:

  • Have met with the high school GRASP advisor to establish a post-secondary plan

  • Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative high school grade point average

  • Will graduate from high school spring of 2025

  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application

  • Have financial need (SAI of $12,000 or less) as determined by the FAFSA or VASA

  • Plan to enroll at a Virginia Community College either to complete a career certificate or with the intent to transfer to a Virginia four-year public or private institution. Three Application Parts

  1. The scholarship application, including essay.

  2. A complete copy of the Student Submission Summary, or a statement that the VASA has been completed. The Student Submission Summary can be downloaded at fafsa.gov. The VASA can be completed at vasaapp.org.

  3. Selection of community college AND 4-year school you intend to transfer to on the College Selection Form OR indicate the Career Certificate you intend to earn.

Application may be submitted without the Student Submission Summary. However, once it becomes available, students must submit their summary for their application to be considered.
