Earn your associate degree or career certification at a Virginia Community College

GRASP will award scholarships to selected applicants for $1,000 for their first year of community college.  Scholarships may be renewed for a second year of the recipients' program.

Eligible scholarship recipients will enroll at a Virginia Community College to either complete a career certificate or with the intent to transfer to a Virginia four-year public or private institution through a Virginia Guaranteed Admission Agreement.    

Application Deadline: April 12, 2019

Students eligible to apply:

  • Have met with the high school GRASP advisor to establish a post-secondary plan

  • Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative high school grade point average

  • Will graduate from high school spring of 2019

  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

  • Have financial need (EFC of $12,000 or less) as determined by the FAFSA

  • Plan to enroll at a Virginia Community College to either complete a career certificate or with the intent to transfer to a Virginia four-year public or private institution through a Virginia Guaranteed Admission Agreement.

Four Application Parts

  1. A GRASP scholarship application, including an essay.

  2. The Checklist and School Certification page, signed by a school official certifying cumulative GPA.

  3. A complete copy of the FAFSA entire Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR can be reprinted by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov.

  4. Either of the following:

    • For students planning on eventually transferring to a four-year school, the College Selection Form, or

    • For students pursuing a career certificate, the Career Path Form.
