Dave grew up on a farm in northwestern Ohio. The nearest community, Yelverton (population 26) is featured on the cover on all Rand McNally maps for the United States. This economized on ink as there was only one dot and word, 5 black lines for the area roads and the rest was green for farm fields! Graduated from Ohio University Cum Laude with majors in Spanish and History and a member of 7 honor societies. Life experience included travel and coursework in Mexico and Spain. Moved to Charlottesville to attend UVA for a master's degree in Spanish. Worked in retail, banking and retired early from the US Department of Agriculture serving farmers in almost every county north and east of Roanoke. Retired to Camp Holiday Trails to maintain a camp for children with health issues until 2020. Upon diagnosis with Parkinson's Disease joined a Parkinson's Yoga class and became the facilitator for this a year later. Dave and his wife Diana moved to Henry County to be closer to their two grandsons. They have 3 adult children. Hobbies include remodeling a 70's house that sat empty for 3 years, gardening and have 4 cats and 2 dogs.
