Jennifer Jones

Jennifer Jones is the GRASP adviser for:

Jennifer was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, and is the youngest of three children. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and subsequently attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, where she pursued a degree in sociology. Throughout her career, Jennifer has dedicated herself to the field of corrections, initially as a rehabilitation counselor and later transitioning into a Sr. Probation Officer role. Notably, she managed the Treatment Department for the sole Detention and Diversion Center for women in Virginia. In October 2015, Jennifer retired from her position with the Virginia Department of Corrections after a remarkable 37-year tenure. During her professional journey, her primary focus was on substance abuse treatment. Jennifer obtained her Certified Substance Abuse Counseling license while employed and has maintained its active status to this day. Recently, Jennifer assisted a friend in establishing a substance abuse treatment program, where she served as a practitioner and supervisor for several years. Jennifer derives immense satisfaction from her active involvement in various community service endeavors, including volunteering with the church, the Mega Mentors Group, substitute teaching, and participating in activities with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, and other organizations. Family holds a profound significance for Jennifer, and she cherishes the time spent with her family, particularly her two granddaughters, and her son and daughter who are products of the Chesterfield School System. It is evident that Jennifer is enthusiastic about embarking on a new chapter with GRASP and contributing to the preparation of high school students for the subsequent stages of their lives, minimizing financial burdens.
