Nancy Ross
Nancy Ross is the GRASP Advisor for Petersburg High School -
Nancy received her B.A. degree from St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia and her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work in Richmond, Virginia.
During her professional career, Ms. Ross has over thirty years of experience as an Administrator, Program Director, Clinical Social Worker, Investigator, Healthcare Safety Inspector, and Community Organizer with the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Department.
Retiring in 2012, Ms. Ross volunteered her services, working with non-profit organizations, social service agencies, educational systems, and local government in providing necessary resources. In-home intensive and supportive counseling was offered to our youth and their families, as needed. She served as volunteer Program Director assisting families in crisis with resources and resolutions of critical family issues. She was the primary and motivating force in bringing Summer Kids Food Programs to our children and families of Southern Chesterfield and Petersburg. She initiated a partnership with Chesterfield Social Services to open a prescription drug program through a community pharmacy allowing our children, the elderly, and low-income citizens to receive medications at no cost. Ms. Ross led an effort to replace antiquated playground equipment at Ettrick Elementary School, thereby providing a safe and pleasant playground experience for neighborhood children. Mrs. Ross was the Co-Founder and Director of the Friends of Ettrick Early Learning Center, a community based, Free Early Childhood Learning Program. As President of the Concerned Citizens of Ettrick, in collaboration with Chesterfield County and non-profit organizations, a housing development of 10 homes were built (Ettrick Landing) for first time home buyers.
Ms. Ross was honored to receive the President Volunteer Service Award under President Barrack Obama’s Administration, the Chesterfield County Senior Volunteer Hall of Fame Award, and the National Association of County Administrator’s Achievement Award.
