Amy Hammond
Amy Hammond is the GRASP Advisor for:
James River: jrbotetourt@grasp4va.org
Lord Botetourt: lordbotetourt@grasp4va.org
Amy lived on the Eastern Shore of VA before moving to the Alleghany mountains, and from mountain to sea there is no place better than Virginia!
Growing up in a low-income household, Amy did not pursue college until she was 28 because it did not seem viable. Despite being an adult, navigating the college process and figuring out how to pay for it was challenging. As she learned more about financial aid she passed on the information to anyone who needed it which turned into a passion for helping others. Amy spent her early career in agricultural research working for Virginia Tech, her alma mater. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work from VCU. For the past two years, she worked as the Career Coach at James River High School in Buchanan, and is very excited to continue helping students in their postsecondary journeys.
